Mendip Volunteer of the Year Announced
Anthony Kennish, who volunteers with the Pilgrim Reception Centre, was named as Mendip Volunteer of the Year at the Time & Talents Fair in Glastonbury Town Hall.
'I nominated Anthony because he gives his time and skills tirelessly. He helps with fundraising and is always the first to step forward when a job needs doing' said Morgana West, Volunteer Co-ordinator at the Centre.
The Mayor of Glastonbury, Councillor John Coles, said how proud he was that the Mendip Volunteer of the Year came from Glastonbury.
The Time & Talents Fair, organised by Mendip Community Support, was part of the local celebrations of Volunteers' Week. This annual event gives voluntary groups the chance to thank their hardworking volunteers and raise awareness of the benefits of volunteering in the local community.
Anthony, 76, said 'Volunteers give their time and skills, but they get lots out of it too. It's something that anyone can do.' If you want to get involved in volunteering call Musetta at Mendip Community support on 01749 346830 or email: volunteeringmcs@mbzonline.net
