We support and promote voluntary and community activity and encourage co-operation with other sectors to develop a more caring and inclusive society
Our objective is to provide a pro-active and accessible service to all community groups and voluntary organisations, particularly those groups who do not have access to centralised support services. Our services offer free, practical help, advice, support and representation of the views of its membership at local, county, regional and national level.
In order to relate directly to the needs of the local population, we organise local town forums throughout Mendip and Sedgemoor and invite speakers from both statutory authorities and other voluntary bodies to give talks and answer questions from the members present.
The forums provide people who are involved with voluntary groups, who may well be working completely on their own, the chance to meet other people, share ideas and find solutions to their problems, giving them an opportunity to share resources.
Providing the opportunity to engage in volunteering
Want to help in the community but don't know where to begin? We can help anyone to volunteer. Do you want to make a difference by helping others? Enjoy sharing your interests with others? Use your skills and experience, learn new skills or gain qualifications?
- We provide volunteers with information about opportunities that will give them new experiences and essentials skills
- We spend time matching volunteers to suitable organisations, creating an enhanced volunteering experience for all
We also provide volunteers for organisations and help publicise their opportunities.
