We support and promote voluntary and community activity and encourage co-operation with other sectors to develop a more caring and inclusive society
Our objective is to provide a pro-active and accessible service to all community groups and voluntary organisations, particularly those groups who do not have access to centralised support services.
Our services offer free, practical help, advice, support and representation of the views of its membership at local, county, regional and national level.
In order to relate directly to the needs of the local population, we organised nine forums during the past year in the main urban centres (Frome, Shepton Mallet, Wells, Glastonbury and Street). Speakers from both statutory authorities and other voluntary bodies attended to give talks and answered questions from the members present.
The forums provide people who are involved with voluntary groups, who may well be working completely on their own, the chance to meet other people, share ideas and find solutions to their problems, giving them an opportunity to share resources.
