Dear Members,
Does your organisation provide food for people who are disadvantaged?
If so, then we know a charity that may be able to help.
FareShare South West is a food charity that receives great quality fresh, chilled and non-chilled food from supermarket distribution centres and food manufacturers that is surplus to their requirements and would otherwise be wasted. They then distribute this food to organisations that look after others, for example, lunch clubs, day centres, addiction and homes support and school breakfast clubs. They already deliver to more than 100 projects in Bristol, Bath, Weston and Gloucestershire and are just starting to work in Somerset.
They would love to hear from you if you think that FareShare food might be useful for your organisation.

Jewellery Recycling
Recycle, Benefit your Environment, Raise Funds for our Charity
Please donate your unwanted Gold, Silver, Costume Jewellery and Watches
We have come up with a simple way for you to help boost the much needed funds of our charity and benefit your environment. We are running an unwanted Jewellery Recycling Collection.
Please donate any unwanted jewellery towards this recycling appeal; gold, silver, costume jewellery, watches… Then all your unwanted items can be turned into a donation for us.
You can do a full ”spring clean” of your jewellery box or just give items you no longer wear. Even damaged, broken and incomplete items will help; so all the odd earrings and snapped chains are a great start!
To send your jewellery to us parcel up your jewellery and post free of charge to:

CENTRAL RECYCLING
If you can, please ask your family, friends and colleagues to participate in this Jewellery Recycling Collection.
Why should I recycle? Recycling reduces the demand for raw materials. This means less mining or quarrying. Many parts of the world have been blighted by mining and quarrying, which destroy the natural environment and wildlife habitats and can cause environmental and health problems for local people. Recycling is one way in which our community can lessen their usage of resources and help protect the environment. Everything you give us is turned into cash for us, recycled and put to good use!
Why not set up your own Jewellery Recycling Scheme. This scheme is open to any school, church, charity or community group and is a fantastic way to raise vital funds and support the environment at the same time. To register, click here, complete the form and return to: Freepost, Central Recycling or fax to 0121 3083738 or email to info@jewelleryrecycling.org.
Thank you very much for your support

Key questions for charity trustees:
The Charity Commission, the regulator of charities in England and Wales, has produced a checklist of '15 questions trustees need to ask'. While not every question will be relevant to every charity, "the checklist reflects a good practice approach your charity should use when regularly reviewing the way it operates".

Volunteers not to be charged for new record checks:
The new portable criminal record checking system will not charge a fee for volunteers, the government has announced following calls from volunteering organisations.
